Frequently asked questions

How do I change my timezone in Slack?

In Slack, click your profile photo, then Preferences, then Language and region, and set your time zone there. Slack uses it for reminders, digests, and the local time shown on your profile.

Why is my Slack timezone not updating?

Slack only auto-updates your time zone when "Set time zone automatically" is on in Preferences under Language and region, and the desktop or mobile app has seen your new location. If it still shows the old zone, turn that toggle off and pick the zone manually.

Does Slack convert message times automatically?

Yes, timestamps in Slack are shown in each reader's own time zone. What Slack does not show is team overlap, which is what this tool computes.

How is the overlap calculated?

Each person's working hours are converted to your local time using their time zone's current UTC offset, so daylight saving is handled by the browser. An hour counts as overlap when it falls inside every listed person's working hours.

Where is my team list stored?

In your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to a server.
