Slack /remind command builder
Pick who, what, and when, and get a /remind command Slack reads the way you meant: once, every weekday, on certain days, every few weeks, monthly, or yearly. It warns about the forms Slack rejects or misreads, and checks a command you wrote.
Slack no longer lists reminders for other people. To reach a teammate, remind a channel they are in and @mention them in the message.

Paste it into any Slack message box and press Enter. Slackbot replies with what it understood, visible only to you.
- Slack uses the time zone set in your Slack profile.
- The message has more than one time in it. Slack uses the first one: "call Bob at 5 tomorrow at 9am" became 5am tomorrow. Put the message in quotes.

We sent each of these forms in a real Slack workspace. The reply is how Slackbot answered, with the message text swapped in.

/remind forms Slack rejects or misreads
- Repeats shorter than a day. every hour and every 15 minutes get "Sorry, I didn't quite get that."
- every weekend. Slack keeps the words in the message and sets one reminder for the next day. Write every Saturday and Sunday.
- A message with a time in it and no quotes. /remind me call Bob at 5 tomorrow at 9am was set for 5am tomorrow.
- every 2 weeks on Monday and Thursday. Slack drops the 2 weeks part and repeats every week.
- 00:00, which Slack read as noon. Write 12am.
- A date that already passed this year, such as on September 1 in late September. Slack sets it for next year.
How to set a reminder in Slack with /remind
- Pick who gets the reminder: you, or a channel.
- Type what the reminder should say. The builder puts it in quotes, so times inside the message do not confuse Slack.
- Pick Repeat or Once, then the schedule and the time. Warnings show up next to the command if Slack would reject or misread it.
- Press Copy command, paste it into any Slack message box, and press Enter.
- Read the reply from Slackbot, which only you can see. It says when the reminder will fire. Type /remind list to see or delete reminders later.

How do I set a recurring reminder in Slack?
Add a repeat to the when part. These all worked when we tested them: every day at 5pm, every weekday at 9:30am, every Monday and Wednesday at 8am, every other Friday at 4pm, every 3 weeks on Friday at 9am, every month on the 15th at 9am, and every year on October 7 at 9am. every month with no day uses the 1st.
Can Slack remind me every hour?
No. Slack answered every hour and every 15 minutes with "Sorry, I didn't quite get that." The shortest repeat is once a day. For a few fixed times a day, set one daily reminder per time.
Why did Slack set my reminder for the wrong time?
The usual cause is a time inside the message. /remind me call Bob at 5 tomorrow at 9am was set for 5am, because Slack read the first time it found. Put the message in quotes. Also: Slack read 00:00 as noon (write 12am), "in 3 days" and "tomorrow" with no time fire at 9am, a date that already passed this year moves to next year, and every time uses the time zone in your Slack profile.
How do I set a reminder for a Slack channel?
Put the channel after /remind: /remind #team "Timesheets are due" every other Friday at 4pm. Slack posts the reminder in the channel when it is due. It also posts a line right away that everyone in the channel can see, saying you set up a reminder.
Can I set a Slack reminder for someone else?
Slack's help center no longer lists reminders for other people. When we typed /remind with our own @name, Slack set the reminder for us. To remind a teammate, remind a channel they are in and @mention them in the message, or schedule a message to them.
How do I see or delete my Slack reminders?
Type /remind list. Slackbot shows your reminders with a Delete button next to each; in a channel it lists that channel's reminders. One-time reminders for yourself also show up in the Later tab.
Does the /remind command still work?
Yes. We tested every form on this page in the Slack web client in September 2026, and Slackbot confirmed each one.
