No official Slack Chrome extension exists. The top 20 third-party ones in the Chrome Web Store, with users and last update, read on October 4, 2026, and what to check before installing one.
On this page
There is no official Slack Chrome extension. We searched the Chrome Web Store for "slack" on October 4, 2026, and none of the top 20 results, or the first 10 for "Slack Technologies", is published by Slack. What you find instead are third-party tools, and most of them do one of four jobs: delete messages in bulk, export members or conversations, tweak the Slack web app, or manage custom emoji.
Every one of them works only when you use Slack in Chrome. The Slack desktop app is not a browser tab, so no extension can reach it.

Read that table with three things in mind:
- • The user counts are small. The biggest, Slack Channels Grouping, lists 10,000 users. Most list a few hundred to a few thousand.
- • Several have not been updated in years. Six were last updated in 2023 or earlier, the oldest in February 2021. Slack changes its web app often, so an old extension that edits the page may have stopped working.
- • Exporters and deleters read your messages. To delete or export, an extension has to act as you in the Slack tab, with the same access you have. Install one only if you trust the developer named on the listing, and remove it when the job is done.
Extensions that keep Slack active
One result is a stay-active product: Stay Green On Slack (79 users, updated June 8, 2026). Its listing says the extension imports your Slack workspace settings into a cloud service, which then keeps your status active with the laptop closed. So the extension is only a setup step, and the service does the work.
That is the same split we use. The Slack Green extension reads your session from your logged-in Slack tab so you can connect a workspace without digging through DevTools, and you can remove it after setup.
An extension that tries to keep you active by itself has a hard limit: it can only act while Chrome is open, the Slack tab is loaded and the computer is awake. The Slack desktop app reads the computer's idle time, not your mouse path (Slack desktop 4.52.178 code, checked 7 Oct 2026); does Slack track mouse movement covers it. A keep-awake extension is a different thing again: it keeps the screen on but sends no input, so Slack still goes grey; see keep awake Chrome extension.
Never appear "away" on Slack again
Cloud-based. No downloads. Works 24/7 even when your laptop is off.
