Slack Green

We uploaded four files to Slack and downloaded them again. The PNG and MP4 came back byte for byte, the JPEG came back re-encoded without its EXIF, and the chat only ever shows a 1024 px preview.

We set a 12-frame animated GIF as a Slack profile photo and downloaded every size Slack made. All of them were still images, frame 1 only.

Slack keeps your recent searches on its servers, so they follow you to every device. We found where to delete them, and the one way the delete button worked for us.

Slack has no Move option for messages. We forwarded a message, a thread and a file to a new channel, deleted the original, and checked what the copy kept.

We deleted our own DM messages, tried to delete the other side's, closed the conversation with /close and reopened it. Here is what each step removed.

We replied in a Slack thread with Also send to channel ticked, removed the channel copy, deleted another, and sent one through the API. Here is what each step did.

We set up a weekday 9:30 standup in a free Slack workspace three ways: a /remind reminder, Workflow Builder, and a short script that posts the questions and collects the thread replies.

We added, renamed, moved, hid and deleted the tabs under a channel name in Slack web on the Free plan, and compared them with the tabs in a DM.

Slack has no bulk leave button. We made 12 test channels and left them with the sidebar menu, the channel browser, /leave and a 30-line script, and timed each way.

As the owner of a free-plan workspace we deleted an app's message, a webhook message and two system messages, in Slack web and with the API, and checked which settings exist.

We marked messages unread in a channel, a DM and a thread in Slack web, read the read state back from the API, and timed what clears it.

We gave a Slack bot one scope, called 44 common Web API methods, and read the needed field of every missing_scope error. Then we added the scopes and called them again. The table shows which scope clears each method.

We uploaded files of 50 MB, exactly 1 GiB and 1 GiB plus one byte to Slack through its upload API. The limit is 1,073,741,824 bytes, and a failed upload can still leave a broken file behind.

Slack's dark mode is under Preferences > Appearance > Color Mode, with Light, Dark and System. We switched modes in Slack web with three test emoji and measured which ones vanish.

The Activity tab collects mentions, reactions, thread replies, reminders and DMs in one feed. We sent a mention and a /remind to a test account and opened every Activity setting in Slack web.

Slack channel names take lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, underscores and letters from other scripts, up to 80 characters. We sent 45 names to the Slack app and the API and recorded every error.

We archived, unarchived and deleted channels in Slack web and through the API, and recorded what members see, what apps can still do, and which names stay taken.

How to call the Slack Web API from Postman with a bearer token and variables, plus a 16-request collection we ran against a real workspace with newman: 16 requests, 17 assertions, 0 failures, and the five mistakes it checks.

Slack has one spell check switch, under Preferences > Language & region. In our test browser it was on, yet Slack web showed no red underlines: the Grammarly extension had set spellcheck to false on the message box. How to check yours.

Help, Troubleshooting, Clear Cache and Restart 순서로 여세요.

We opened a modal with seven input blocks in a test workspace and captured every payload: what Slack checks before your app sees anything, the exact view_submission state.values, response_action errors, dispatch_action, and input blocks in messages.
