Send a Slack message with one curl command: POST a JSON body with a text field to your incoming webhook URL, and Slack answers ok. Tested examples for curl, jq, Block Kit, Python with retries and Node.js, how to escape quotes and new lines, and what 400 invalid_payload and 429 mean in code.

Webex shows In a meeting while a Webex meeting is still open on any of your devices, and In a calendar meeting while an event is on your calendar. Leave the meeting everywhere, check your calendar, or turn off Show when in a calendar meeting. Plus the fixes when Webex status does not show in Outlook.

RingCentral usually shows In a meeting when you are not in one because Calendar presence is on: it shows In a meeting for every event on a connected calendar, whether you join or not. Slack has no API to start, join or record a huddle. Apps can read whether a user is in one from huddle_state on the user profile, see which channel from huddle_state_channel_id, and get the user_huddle_changed event when it changes. Code for both, plus audit log events on Enterprise.

Logitech does not make a mouse jiggler, and Logi Options+ has no keep-awake setting. Create a Slack app at api.slack.com/apps, turn on Incoming Webhooks, click Add New Webhook to Workspace and pick a channel. Slack gives you a hooks.slack.com URL that posts to that channel. Private channels, DMs, several channels, the Workflow Builder alternative, and the errors you may see.

Slack now renders an uploaded .md file: our 28 October 2026 test showed headings, bold text, checkboxes and a table in the file viewer. Mermaid blocks and HTML tags still show as text. Screenshots, the API output, and when a canvas is still the better choice.

Block Kit text objects with type mrkdwn use Slack's own syntax: *bold*, _italic_, <url|text> links and <@U123> mentions. The markdown block takes standard markdown, with lists, headings and tables, up to 12,000 characters per payload. Syntax tables, JSON you can paste, bullet lists, links and mentions.

In 8x8 Work, a green check means Available, solid red means Busy, red with a phone means On Call, red with a bar means Do Not Disturb, an amber clock means Away, and a grey X means Offline or Invisible. Discord rejects custom emoji over 256 KB. Resize the image to 128 x 128 pixels, and for a GIF lower the colors and drop frames until it fits. Free resizer, gifsicle and ffmpeg commands, and the other upload rules that cause errors.

To show you are off after hours in Slack, set your working hours in Preferences so Slack pauses notifications outside them, tick the after-hours option under Automatic statuses, and add a status that says when you are back. Examples, what coworkers see, and a script for a daily status.

✅ :white_check_mark: is Slack's own emoji for done, labelled Completed in its reaction menu. Codes for in progress, working on it and noted, all 18 checked in a real workspace, plus a request flow and custom :done: emoji.

Slack's desktop app and browser version use Lato for messages and menus, and Roboto Mono for code; set to Japanese, Korean or Chinese, the app switches to Noto Sans. slack.com uses Salesforce Sans and Salesforce Avant Garde. The logo is custom lettering. You can switch the app font to one of 10 options in Preferences.

Slack has no side eye emoji. The closest built-in ones are 🙄 :face_with_rolling_eyes: and 😒 :unamused:, and 🫡 :saluting_face: is built in too. For a real side eye, slay or same emoji, make a custom one from a photo or text and add it with Add Emoji. Codes, meme ideas and the steps.

Send the emoji on its own, with no text. In our test Slack showed it at 32 x 32 pixels, against 22 next to a word and 16 as a reaction. The large-emoji preference, zoom, tight cropping for custom emoji, and the grid trick for one giant emoji are below.

Type has::eyes: in the Slack search bar to find every message with an :eyes: reaction. Use hasmy::eyes: for messages you reacted to, has:reaction for any reaction, and a minus sign to exclude one. Tested modifiers, recipes and an export script.

The standard Slack emoji for an announcement is 📣 :mega: or 📢 :loudspeaker: at the start of the post. Use 🚨 :rotating_light: only for real emergencies, 🆕 :new: for updates, ⏰ :alarm_clock: for reminders, and ask readers to react with ✅ :white_check_mark: once they have read it. A Slack status for a doctor appointment says you are out and when you are back, such as 🏥 'At an appointment, back at 2 PM.' You do not have to say what kind. 24 statuses for doctor, dentist and other appointments, the emoji codes, and how to schedule the status so it clears by itself.

A Slack status for limited availability says you are around but slow, until when, and how to reach you if it is urgent, such as ⏳ 'Limited availability today, replies after 3 PM.
